Steve Damm

Steve Damm grew up in a tiny town in Eastern Washington known as Kittitas. He started taking drumming lessons at the tender age of 8 and by the age of nine he was dressing up like a little civil war drummer boy (union of course) for stage performances. By the time Steve was 13 he was doing studio and demo work with area musicians and playing parties with some local country bands.
In High School Steve became active in school bands and playing around with his buddies in bands with names like Dragon Mouth, Fire Axxx, Metal Mixer and Shortcake Pony. Steve honed his craft by playing different styles with different people, until he left high school and entered college.
At Central Washington University, Steve joined a popular band called Ground Flower and played regularly in the club scene and college frat parties around the region. The band had a personnel change and when moved to Seattle, changed it’s name to Monotone Pictures. Steve also played as a hired gun for live and studio work around the Puget Sound.
Steve is a Rock drummer. A Soft Rock drummer. Air Supply, WHAM!, Bread, Starland Vocal Band, and Culture Club are not bands that influenced Steve. He patterned most of has playing around solid rock drumming of Keith Moon, John Bonham, Jeff Porcaro, Jim Keltner, Phil Rudd, Nick Mason, Peter Frampton, Ally McBeal and Mike Bruce.
When Steve met Vote For Pedro, he was shy at first. He knew he was attracted to V for P but didn’t know how to express it. He followed the band home from shows and wrote things like “Steve Luvs VFP” on his Trapper Keeper and practiced signing his name: Mrs. Steven Vote For Pedro. Finally, they tried him out and said, “whatever.” Steve was delighted.
