Nabil Kausal-Hayes
Nabil started playing guitar in 1994, inspired by his older brother
Justin (of Author Unknown),his sister Anisa and father Alan. Inspired by such bands as
Cake, Pearl Jam, and Dave Matthews Band, he formed a band right out of
high school called Moodring and began playing shows around the
eastside as the frontman. When Moodring passed, Nabil continued to
play open mics and jammed with his friends. It was not long until his
chops were recognized and he was asked to play with former members of
Speedshifter and they soon became Run for Cover, playing mostly covers
ranging from The Beatles to Ben Harper. When Run for Cover could run
no more, Nabil returned to being a soloist and an engineering student
at the University of Washington. Two years later he found Jeff and
Martin, and with school coming to an end, found the time to jam on
Dispatch, Dave Matthews, and revive old origionals that cried for
exposure.
Nabil's guitar playing (having never taken lessons) is smooth and
fluid, influenced by lead guitarists like Trey Anastasio, Santana, and
Jimi Hendrix. In his decade of band experience he has played shows all
over Seattle and the eastside in venues such as The Rainbow, The Ballard Firehouse,
Big Daddy's, and The Raindancer.
